Guidelines and requirements for countries and organisations interested in hosting WESPA’s Scrabble championships.

WESPA welcomes bids from eligible organisations to host upcoming editions of the WESPAC and WTSC championships.

Eligibility Criteria

Before submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI), applicants must ensure:

  • They are officially recognised by or affiliated with WESPA.
  • Officially affiliated with WESPA as a recognised association, affiliate, or corporate promoter.
  • Active membership with current subscription.

Hosting Requirements

Prospective hosts must demonstrate their capacity to deliver a successful championship by meeting the following requirements:

  • Venue for at least 300 players, with space for side events.
  • Adequate accommodation for local and international players.
  • Competent local organising team working with WESPA.
  • Minimum of two WESPA-certified Tournament Directors.
  • Strong communications and media plan, including livestreaming capability.
  • Sound budget and sponsorship plan ensuring a minimum USD 10,000 top prize.
  • Support from local and national Scrabble bodies.
  • Event scheduled no later than 30 September of the hosting year.
  • Prizes awarded to at least the top 10 finishers.
  • Convenient and accessible transport options for participants.
